Today was a true Pan Day!
Mostly we read and ate and read some more. Gini started and finished her book (Where the Crawdads Sing) as did Robert (Capital Murder from the Arcane Casebook series).
Showers were had by 50% of our staff, and he reports that although it was $3 for the shower, the water lasted for six-and-a-half minutes, making it about 50 cents a minute. It turns out that getting Robert clean takes about six minutes. The previous showers were about $1 a minute, so this shower is actually a bargain.
The sign in the shower explains the process for taking a shower (be sure to "incert" Loonies!
Because the showers were co-ed, the other half of our staff chose not to partake. (“But there’s doors!” exclaims Robert, as though that makes it okay.)
It was very windy all day, sometimes to the point of causing Harvey to shake back and forth. We were glad to be nestled in our RV park and not on the road where being pushed around by the wind is more serious.
The mighty Yukon
One of our readers has wondered if it’s a good idea to go swimming in the Yukon River, which flows right by our camp.
The current here is fast. Really fast. And it doesn’t slow down near the banks, like regular rivers do. In fact, we would hesitate to go into the Yukon with a high-powered speed boat, unless we had somebody waiting downstream with a net across the river (“Sorry we missed youuuuuuu”)
There’s a short video below that shows what we’re talking about. We’re scared to even put our feetsies in the Yukon.
Robert shows why the mighty Yukon is not a good swimming hole
